New Years Gift Of US 7 Million Dollars For LIAT
January 2, 2018

A loan of US 7 Million dollars was finalised for regional air carrier Liat in closing days of 2017. Prime Minister Gonsalves made the announcement at his first press conference for the year 2018.

Gonsalves said the loan was finalized by shareholder governments including, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados and SVG.

“You know we are doing a lot of reviews and consultations about Liat, the consultants were appointed, and I expected a report earlier to feed into the work of the task force, but some of the consultancies their appointments took a little longer than we had anticipated”.

Gonsalves said the money is divided as follows; 35 percent or 2.44 Million to Antigua and Barbuda, 53 percent of 3.72 Million to Barbados and 12 percent 840, 000 US dollars for St Vincent.

All monies Gonsalves said would go towards Liat in the various islands.

Gonsalves said on Friday there would be a meeting in SVG between the president of the Caribbean Development Bank, Liat management, himself as Chairman of shareholder Governments of Liat, and the consultants.

“I want from early this year to take the necessary steps so as to make the requisite reforms in Liat,” Gonsalves said.

"New Years Gift Of US 7 Million Dollars For LIAT"

Point 1. Begging your pardon, your self-elevated short-derriere wide-mouth shitbucketship, but since when did a LOAN become a GIFT? And does the lender know you have no intention of paying it back?

Point 2. WHO is lending a few broke, highly indebted Caribbean islands US$7 million? Is it possible we can know who the lender is, or has that information been lost in the euphoria of having fooled yet another international lender? Are you twisting the Caribbean Development Bank's arm into lending us our own money again?

Point 3. Are you REALLY going to pour ANOTHER US$7 million down the drain after the more than US$100 million you already wasted on an unnecessary fleet change?

Point 4. WHERE is Barbados (among others) getting this money from? Barbados national debt is already $14 BBB-Billion and still climbing. They are laying off civil servants, allowing infrastructure to fall apart and defaulting on their bills at home - but now they are supposed to find almost US$4 million to prop up LIAT again as well?

Point 5. WHERE is St. Vincent getting this money from? You yourself just spent almost a BBB-Billion EC dollars on the Argyle white elephant.

Point 6. Changes in LIAT? What changes in LIAT? Last time I looked, over the last 30 years LIAT and its shareholders had poured many US$ millions into hiring "consultants" on multiple occasions (including Lufthansa Technik) and whenever you - Ralph Gonsalves - hear the word "change" you have a hissy fit and kick everybody out of the room.

And YOU - Ralph Gonsalves - nixed potential CEO applicants because they mentioned "that word". Not just this last time when you installed an incompetent unsuitable candidate who has no clue what she would change if she had to make changes, but the time before that, AND the time before that.

Yet now you expect us to believe that there will be change at LIAT? Are you the latest upstart Caribbean comedian doing the rounds? Because you sure are a hell of a huge joke to the rest of us.
