The Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) has expressed regret at the scare caused at the Norman Manley International Airport on Friday.

There were reports of a bag exploding at the terminal building, which triggered panic.

It later emerged that the explosion was part of an emergency simulation.

The aviation authority says it routinely conducts or ensures the conduct of scheduled and unscheduled simulation and other surveillance exercises on a monthly basis.

The agency says it regrets the delayed confirmation of the planned exercise, immediately following the event, which caused an alarm.
