ExpressJet CEO departs for American Airlines
By: Jerry Limone
December 02, 2009
ExpressJet CEO Jim Ream will leave ExpressJet at the end of the year to take a job with American Airlines.

Ream will become American's senior vice president of maintenance and engineering, succeeding Carmine Romano, who is retiring after 41 years with American.

ExpressJet named board member Pat Kelly interim CEO.

Ream assumed the role of CEO at ExpressJet in 2002, when ExpressJet spun off from Continental and became a public company.

ExpressJet credits Ream with leading a diversification of the company, as ExpressJet developed a ground handling business and a corporate aviation division during Ream's time as CEO. ExpressJet's main business is the operation of regional flights for Continental and United.

Also during Ream's tenure, ExpressJet launched branded, scheduled service in 2007, but the operation lasted only one year.
