[Guyana] Jag’s Aviation launches new aircraft
May 15, 2012

Jag’s Aviation Ltd, a private charter service operating out of the Ogle International Airport, has launched a new select charter service.

Captain of the company’s new mid-size executive jet, Don King, expressed optimism that the new service will be welcomed locally, and the market for such a service will expand in the near future.

King said the service, which was launched on Wednesday, May 9, will be of the best quality. “In Guyana, we believe there is high potential of usage and once the market is sensitised to our services, people will be calling enquiring on details.”

The idea of an executive charter service was conceived more than one year ago. King said the increased popularity of the company’s service, as well as the results of market research, encouraged Jag’s to purchase the new aircraft. “There is a potential for this kind of service. There is an element and target market for some Guyanese who are looking for an ultimate means of travelling,” he stated.

According to King, the new aircraft can seat seven passengers in an executive cabin configuration. Entertainment, hot meals, complimentary drinks, and snacks, as well as cabin crew are all part of the package.

The British Aerospace 125 Hawker jet can travel some 2000 miles within six hours, and has been granted permission to land in the Caribbean, Latin America, and other destinations except the United States.

King said he is encouraging potential customers to call and get details of flights offered by the only air charter service in Guyana. “Our strategy is to also promote the destinations we travel in, whether Guyana or the Bahamas, and to invite people to call for quotations of travel,” he said.

The charter fees are based on several factors, including length of the travel, landing permit cost, overhead landing fees, and airport taxes.

Jags Aviation acquired its Air Operator Certificate in March 2007 from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority to operate as a charter service. The airline also owns and operates a Britten-Norman Islander Aircraft that is capable of transporting up to nine passengers at a time. That aircraft is used to for interior charter flights, cargo flights, passenger flights, sightseeing flights, and medical evacuation.

Wow, that is quite a diverse fleet - a 4 place piston "slo-as-tail" Islander, and a 7 seater speed demon jet... I can just imagine how the jet pilots look down on their lowly brothers.
