Grand Bahama Air Traffic Controllers to be paid overtime
Bahamas Department of Civil Aviation
Sep 2, 2015

The Department of Civil Aviation has procured the agreement of the Grand Bahama Airport Company to pay overtime to Air Traffic Controllers at the Grand Bahama International Airport. The Company has agreed to pay the overtime on a retroactive basis less time previously taken off by Controllers in lieu of pay.

The provision of air traffic services is an essential service and the officer who turned away a commercial aircraft loaded with passengers on Tuesday, the 18th August 2015 acted contrary to his duty as an essential service worker.

This matter is now under investigation by the Public Service.

Well, well, well... see how easy that was? But no, there are still some management in the Caribbean who would rather see a strike or industrial action and waste several hundred million dollars than see industrial harmony.

It's very simple... if a contract says you pay people under certain circumstances, then you pay them when those circumstances present themselves. Don't wait until there is a crisis, and possibility of people getting hurt - not to mention damaging your entire country's reputation so you can puff your chicken chest out.

Stop flexing your muscles of authority and MANAGE your people, that's why you are called a MANAGER. You are not called or employed as an ABUSER, nor is that what you in authority are there for, so stop harassing the employees under you.
