St. John's, Antigua, June 23, 2011 – A LIAT Customer Service Representative, Ms. Alison Browne is the 2011 winner of the prestigious Antigua Hotel & Tourist Association (AHTA) Tourism Employee of the Year award.

Ms. Browne received the awarded during the AHTA’s National Tourism Awards function held Wednesday night at the Sandals Grande Antigua Resort. The gala occasion saw a number of Antiguans and Barbudans being honoured for their outstanding contribution to the development of the tourism industry in the country.

“Alison is one of the many customer service champions in our Company and we are very proud of her achievement,” LIAT’s Corporate Communications Manager Desmond Brown said.

“She is known for rolling out the red carpet for our customers and always ensures that visitors with whom she interacts leave Antigua with a good impression of not only LIAT and the services we provide but of the people of the country.”

Ms. Browne, who joined the LIAT family in 2007, has worked in the service industry for 21 years.

It is the second consecutive year that a LIAT employee is being awarded by the AHTA which, on an annual basis, AHTA recognises employees in the tourism sector who displayed outstanding customer service on a consistent basis throughout the year.

In 2010 two LIAT employees, Customer Service Representative Mrs. Elizabeth Browne and Network Baggage Coordinator Denis Jules, were nominated.

Mr. Jules was awarded the 2010 Customer Service Employee of the year award for his outstanding contribution to the development of tourism in Antigua and Barbuda.
