AMR names three officers - two at American Airlines, one at American Eagle
Thu., Nov. 17, 2011
AMR announced three promotions Thursday:
• Charles Schubert will replace long-time executive Walter Aue as vice president of network planning. Aue is retiring Dec. 1. (Aue's title is vice president of capacity planning.)
Aue has been at American for more than 37 years, starting out in 1974 as an analyst in revenue management. He's been a vice president since March 1998.
Schubert, an 11-year employees, started out as a financial analyst. He was named in 2010 as managing director of network planning.
• Andrew Backover is replacing Roger Frizzell as vice president of corporate communications. Frizzell left last month to join PG&E.
Backover, who joined American in 2006, had held the title of managing director of corporate communications. He had been a reporter for several newspapers, including the Fort Worth Star Telegram, before joining AT&T, his job before American.
- • Pedro Fabregas was named American Eagle's senior vice president of customer service, while also keeping his job as president of Executive Airlines, a subsidiary of AMR Eagle Holding. He started with American Airlines in 1983.
Two weeks ago, a newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago was reporting that Fabregas would become CEO of Caribbean Airlines. At that time, an American Eagle spokesperson said "Huh?" (I'm paraphrasing.)
