After two weeks of suspension, the Venezuelan state-run airline Conviasa resumed domestic operations on Friday. Vice Minister Arturo Gil said that flights were resumed but flight frequency was reduced. The company will advance an optimization of its current airline fleet.

Does anyone have any idea why Conviasa seems to have such a tough time keeping in the air? I understand that fuel costs in Venezuela are reasonably low, so that may not be the problem. Isn't Conviasa state-funded?
