I got word that it was a 402 - I guess J8-SXM must be it.

If no pilot was there I hope he managed to get out safely.

Two reoports Ijust picked up off the web...

Pilot missing after plane went down off Canouan
By CMC on 8/06/10

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – Authorities were searching Friday for the pilot of a St. Vincent and the Grenadines -SVG Air – plane that went down off the grenadine island of Canouan.

Details are sketchy but the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC) has learnt that the plane disappeared from radar screens late Thursday.

The ill-fated aircraft has since been located, however, the pilot, who was on his way to Canouan to airlift an accident victim, has not been found. The accident victim later died.

In 2006 two persons were killed when a SVG Air plane, travelling from Canouan to the E.T. Joshua Airport on the mainland, crashed into the sea.

SVG Air serves the islands of St. Vincent, Nevis, Barbados, Martinique, St. Lucia Grenada and the Grenadine islands of Bequia, Carriacou, Mustique and Union Island. It also serves Mayreau, Petit St. Vincent and Palm Island.

Search Continues For Missing Pilot
Posted by NBC Administrator
August 6, 2010

Officials from the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority are due in the state today to investigate the cause of the crash of an SVG Air aircraft yesterday.

Coastguard officials say the search continues for the pilot and only passenger of the plane, who has been identified as Rudolph Suresh Lakhram.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, Godfred Pompey says a few pieces of debris were recovered from an area believed to be the crash site off the coast of Mustique.

Reports say the aircraft was on its way Canouan to bring a victim of a vehicle accident to the mainland for treatment when it encountered difficulties.

NBC News has learnt that the victim of the vehicle accident has since died.

So there's still hope... but putting it in the sea I have my doubts.

("the plane disappeared from radar screens late Thursday" - so SVG has radar now??)

If they do its probably a feed of Martinique radar like SLU. Both George Charles tower (118.00) and St.Lucia Approach/Departure (119.800) located UVF have one.

What I did hear however is that the aircraft was just pulled out of the hangar after some Maintenance work done on it.
